Privacy Policy
This page says what Inka collects, why, and what we do not do. Inka is operated by [Company legal name], [State].
The short version
- Your writing stays on your device unless you sign in. Then it is also stored, encrypted in transit, so it can follow you to your other devices.
- We do not read, sell, or analyse your writing, and we do not use it to train anything.
- We do not run advertising or ad tracking.
What we collect
- Your writing and settings. Saved on your device. If you sign in, your pieces are also saved to our database (hosted by Supabase) under your account, and only your account can read them.
- Account details. Your email address, and a name and profile picture if you sign in with Google or Apple. Used to sign you in and to email you about your account.
- Payment details. Handled by Stripe. We receive a record that you paid and which plan you chose. We never receive your card number.
- Anonymous usage counts. Inka counts actions such as opening the editor, beginning to write, selecting a room, exporting, and starting a focus block. We record fixed labels for the referring service or campaign, the landing page, and the button used to enter the editor. A random browser-tab visit id groups these events; it is not an account or person id. The visit and its labels use session storage, normally cleared when the tab closes (a browser may restore it when restoring tabs). On reload after 30 minutes without a recorded action, a new visit begins. A yes/no flag indicates whether this browser already had writing saved before the visit; it does not identify you. Error counts contain only a standard error type and source-code coordinates, never the error message. These usage events do not include writing, document titles, email addresses, account ids, or custom background URLs. They are disabled when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
- Basic technical logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for a short time to keep the service running and secure.
What we do not collect
No advertising cookies, no fingerprinting, no tracking across sites. Inka counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores no personal data. Inka uses your browser's local storage to remember your settings and your writing, and one cookie-like token to keep you signed in. That is all.
Third parties we rely on
- Supabase for sign-in and syncing your pieces.
- Stripe for payments.
- Vercel for hosting.
- Spotify, only if you connect it. Music plays from Spotify, and Spotify's own privacy policy applies to that connection. Your writing is never sent to Spotify.
- Google Fonts for typefaces on the landing page.
Where your data lives and how long
Synced pieces are stored in the United States and kept until you delete them or your account. Deleted pieces are removed from our servers within 30 days. Server logs are kept for a few weeks at most.
Your rights
You can export everything you have written at any time from Hub, Export. You can delete pieces in the app. To delete your account and everything synced with it, or to ask what we hold about you, email writeinka@gmail.com and we will do it within 30 days. If you are in the EU, UK or California, you have the rights those laws give you, and this is the address to use.
Children
Inka is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app and on this page before the change takes effect.
