A November novel challenge in the Inka writing app

Fifty thousand words in thirty days is 1,667 words a day. That is the number for November 2026, and you can chase it in the Inka writing app. The organisation that ran the old challenge closed in March 2025, so there is no official event this year. Inka is not NaNoWriMo and is not running one either. The number is just a number you can set.

Writing on the page over the Alpine Meadow room

The number, and nothing else

1,667 words a day for 30 days lands on 50,010. Miss a day and the calculator will raise the remaining days if you change the deadline or the words already written. That is the whole trick. There is no badge inside Inka for finishing, and there is no public profile of your progress.

The organisation that used to host the November challenge shut down in March 2025. There is no official 2026 event. The challenge carries on anyway, privately and in small groups: the same 50,000 words, the same thirty days, nobody counting them for you. What happened, and the sources, are on the NaNoWriMo alternative page. Inka is not affiliated with them. The name is theirs. This page is about the arithmetic and the room.

How the draft fits in the app

Put the novel in one piece if you can. Free allows three pieces, and a chapter-per-file habit will hit that wall. Pro removes the cap. The daily word goal is free: set it to 1,667, or to whatever the calculator says after you miss a day. The streak counts days you meet that goal. A target on the piece itself, a running total toward 50,000, is Pro.

Nothing in the app writes the scene. People who left the old challenge over generated prose wanted a tool that does not offer a model. This is that kind of tool.

How to set up the month

  1. Run the calculator. Leave it at 50,000 and 30 days for November 2026, or change it if your book is a different length.
  2. Put today's number into the daily goal in the app.
  3. Pick one room and leave it. Cozy Rain Room is free. Switching rooms is a way to avoid the chapter.
  4. Use a sprint, on this site or as a 25-minute block in the app, when the daily number is too big to start.
  5. Export a .docx every few days. The browser is not your only copy.

Questions

Is Inka a NaNoWriMo replacement organization?

No. There is no event, no forums, and no affiliation. You can use the app for the same word count.

Is 1,667 words a day a Pro feature?

The daily goal is free, at whatever number you set. A target attached to the one piece is Pro.

Can I do the challenge in several chapter files?

On the free app, only until you have three pieces. One file for the whole draft avoids that.

Will the app generate the novel?

No.
