A journal in the browser: the Inka writing app

The Inka writing app has a Today's journal button. It opens the entry for today's date, or starts one. The entry is saved on the device as you type.

What Today's journal does

You press Today's journal and you are in that day's entry. The title is the date. Come back later the same day and you are in the same entry. It is not a separate app from the rest of your pieces. It is one piece, marked as the journal.

Free includes the journal, and the journal counts toward the three pieces. If you already have three pieces, starting the journal opens the upgrade sheet instead of a fourth file. Pro removes the cap.

What it is not

There is no stack of guided prompts. An empty page shows one line, the same line, inviting you to start. Older rotating prompts were removed. If you want a prompt generator, Inka does not have one.

It is not a therapy product, and it does not score your mood. A daily word goal and a streak exist: the goal is a thin line at the bottom of the screen, and the streak is a small flame in the dock. A day counts when you meet the goal. Ignore both if you are just writing the day down.

There is no lock screen inside the journal. Privacy is the device, and the browser's own account, until you sign in. Signed-in entries sync so the same journal can open on another device. Rooms and settings stay on each device. Inka does not read the entries.

How to keep a day

  1. Open the app and choose Today's journal.
  2. Pick a room you can stand to see every morning. Cozy Rain Room and Ink Room are both free.
  3. Write. Leave when you are done. The entry is already saved.
  4. If you want the words in a folder of files, download .txt or .docx, or send the entry to a Google Doc. Export is free.

Questions

Does the journal ask me questions?

No. It opens a dated page and waits. There is no prompt deck.

Is the journal private?

It stays on the device unless you sign in to sync. There is no public feed.

Can I export a month of entries?

Each piece exports on its own: copy, .txt, .docx, or a Google Doc. A journal day is a piece.

Does today's entry use up a free piece?

Yes. The three free pieces include the journal.
