The Inka writing app works offline after it has loaded
Load the Inka writing app once on that device. After that you can write with the connection off. The first visit needs the network. A cold browser that has never opened Inka cannot invent the app.

What still works with no connection
The page, the pieces already on the device, and the timer. Sounds you have already played. Copy, .txt, and .docx, because those files are built in the browser and not fetched. The typo dictionary ships with the app, so the underline works offline too.
You can install Inka from the browser menu and open it in its own window. That is the same app, not a second product.
What needs the network
Sign-in and sync. Spotify. Send to Google Docs. A YouTube background. A room video you have never opened may show its still picture instead of the loop, because the videos are larger than the app's cache. A video the browser itself has already cached may keep playing. Do not count on every animation offline.
A sound you have never started will not download mid-flight. Play it once while you are online if you want it later.
Anonymous usage counts, such as opening the editor, are sent only when there is a connection, and they do not include the manuscript. Offline, those pings fail quietly. The draft does not wait on them.
How to leave the house with a draft
- Open the app on the device you are taking, while you still have a connection.
- Open the room and the sounds you want, once.
- Export a .docx or .txt as a second copy before you go, if the draft matters. Local storage is not a backup if the browser data is cleared.
- Write offline. Sync when you are back, if you are signed in.
Questions
Does the writing upload while I type?
No. Typed text stays on the device. A signed-in account syncs pieces when there is a connection. The manuscript is not in the anonymous usage ping.
Can I export on a plane?
Copy, .txt, and .docx, yes, once the app has loaded before. Google Docs, no.
Do I need an install to get offline?
No. Loading the site once is what fills the cache. Installing it into its own window is optional.
Will a brand-new laptop work with no Wi-Fi?
No. Something has to load the app the first time.
Open Inka
Load it once on a connection, then keep writing with the Wi-Fi off.
