Typewriter sounds in the Inka writing app

The Inka writing app can sound like a typewriter when you press a key. That pack is Pro. It is not a sound effect you download, and it does not play unless you are typing.

What the Typewriter pack is

Key sounds are separate from the rain and the fire. The choices are Off, Cream, CherryMX, Typewriter, and Panda. Off and Cream are free. Typewriter, CherryMX, and Panda are Pro.

Typewriter uses recorded strikes, with a different sample for the space bar and for backspace than for a letter. It follows your typing. It is not an ambient loop of someone else typing.

If you wanted the sound and do not have Pro

Cream is the free key sound. It is a softer board, real samples for letters, space, and backspace, with a little pitch variation. Off is there if any click is too much. Neither one is a typewriter.

You cannot preview the Typewriter pack on a free account. Choosing it opens the upgrade sheet and the selector returns to Cream.

Space and backspace are not the same strike as a letter. The pack is built that way so a long sentence does not sound like one key repeating. It still will not play while you are only reading. Pro is $7 a month, $49 a year, or $99 once, and the typewriter pack is one of the things that price adds, along with the other locked sounds and rooms.

How to turn it on

  1. Open Sound and find Key sound.
  2. Choose Typewriter if you have Pro. Otherwise stay on Cream or Off.
  3. Type. The first key may wait a moment while the samples load. After that they are cached.
  4. Ambient rain can stay on underneath. Key sounds and ambient sounds are separate controls, so rain can play while the keys strike.

Questions

Is there a free typewriter sound?

No. The Typewriter pack is Pro. Cream is the free key sound, and it is a softer board, not a typewriter. Off is free as well.

Can I download the typewriter effect?

No. It plays inside the app while you type.

Does it type by itself so I can listen?

No. Silence until you press a key. It is not a typing-sound website you put on in the background.

Will it work with rain?

Yes. Key sounds and ambient sounds are separate. Rain can play while the keys strike.

Open Inka

Cream is free and already on. Hear that first, then decide about the Typewriter pack.
